On Wednesday evening in Mullanpur, the IPL fraternity witnessed one of the best knocks played in the league’s history. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi piled up 97 runs in just 29 balls against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2026 Eliminator.

While almost scoring the fastest IPL century on the night, some of the regular India openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan were far behind him, scoring 29, 0 and 17, respectively.
Eyes on the Historic Orange Cap
With the final two matches remaining in IPL 2026, the southpaw is at 680 runs in 15 innings. He is 28 runs ahead of the next best, Sai Sudharsan and has Shubman Gill at 618.
If things go well for the RR prodigy in Qualifier 2 against GT, he could go on to become the youngest player to win the Orange Cap in IPL.
